About: Water connects, water has memory, and water is capable of transporting and transforming these memories across time and space. Similarly, aquariums are connected to the idea of belonging and have an intrinsic relation with water. This exhibit invites the audience to reflect on life changes, remembrances, transitions, and connections to important others. By displaying the sea and aquariums as the main elements, Paola creates visual representations of her personal connection with her siblings. The aquariums transform into three wombs that travel across the ocean in search of new horizons, new journeys, new endeavors.

The film was shot with 16mm b/w film, Tri-x and Double X. My work is kindly supported by Suomen kulttuurirahasto.
